• Oh pool, how I miss you. Don’t get me wrong, you were a pain in the butt while you were here. Always needing cleaned out. Always needing chlorine. It was always something with you. But, oh how I miss you. Especially when the temperatures around here are hitting the 100 degree mark. I miss floating along on a noodle without a care in the world. Sun shining. Birds chirping. My cold drink on the side of the pool. Alas, when you have kids, there is a time when we all must sacrifice. The pool had to go. Now, as the…

  • Happy 4th of July! First, before I forget… I am now going to be doing Wordless Wednesdays… beginning next week.  What are Wordless Wednesdays, you ask?  It is where I say nothing… just post a picture from the week.  I’ve seen this on a few other blogs and thought it was a cute idea.  So, guess what… I’m doing it. Also, if you have a blog, I would love for you to link it up above on the “Link Your Blog Here” page.  Leave me a comment and I will come visit you and check it out. Okay… enough housekeeping…

  • As I was trying to catch up at work from when I was gone in Chicago, I needed to get into my desk drawer… I opened it and this is what I saw. Oh my. This will never do. So, I stopped working and dumped out all the contents on my desk. I found all sorts of things. Candy. Medicine. My iPod cord. Money. Even a button I had lost. Too bad I donated the sweater to Goodwill.  Think I could donate the button? I worked on organizing my desk for over an hour. Finally, I had it all put…

  • This is my newest card creation.  I used this for a masculine birthday card for a friend here at work that rides bikes. In hindsight, I think I should have used Staz-On because the ink turned a little “muddy” on the card stock. Supplies: Paper cutter Light brown card stock, cut to 5.5″ x 8″ Scrap piece of paper (I used a scrap from a Tim Holtz paper stack) Tim Holtz Visual Artistry Clear Stamps: Playful Journey Black Ink (I recommend Staz-On) 2 gems or rhinestones Sizzix or die cut machine Stampin’ Up’s Labels Collection Framelits (2 sizes to fit…

  • We have a serious problem in our house. Someone sneaks into our house, past the dog, past my husband and I, and past the kids… to take bites out of the strawberries in the fridge. I have yet to catch this person.  The rumor in our house is that the person’s name is Not Me.  I have no confirmation of this yet, nor a description to give to the police. I have been considering issuing an APB on Not Me.  Perhaps even having him or her highlighted on America’s Most Wanted.  But, I’m not sure the cops will talk to…

  • Last Friday afternoon, we welcomed two new family members into our crazy lives. No, not new dogs or cats, or children, Heaven forbid. Two flame tetras. Why, you ask? Because mommy felt guilty about going to Chicago. Friday, I called into work and we headed up North to the Super Wal-mart. It was still hush-hush on what I had planned. We did some shopping and then hit the pet aisle. We purchased a 1.5 gallon tank kit, along with rocks for the bottom. That was fun… no one could agree on the color, but I digress. They finally agreed on a mix of…

  • There’s a new catch phrase in our house. Mama-Maria. It is usually used as an exclamation and at the top of the kids’ lungs.  We don’t know anyone named Maria.  My kids have never called me momma.  How did these two get put together to begin my kids’ go-to phrase?  Funny you should ask. About two months before the kids’ third birthday, we decided to go buy a Nintendo Wii.  The excuse we told ourselves—and each other—was that the kids would love to have one.  The truth is I wanted to use it for Zumba and daddy wanted to use…

  • I grew up in a messy house.  My mom would have rather played with us kids than clean.  I can remember making tent forts, having floor picnics, tea parties, and even playing Pilgrims and Indians on my parents’ bed (the bed was the Mayflower… LOL).  I would rather play with my kids then clean. There, I said it.  Its public knowledge. My husband and I disagree on this– very often. Now, I’m not saying there’s trash on my floor or anything like that.  I just would rather play cars and trucks or Barbies than dust.  Heck, you could probably write Barbie in the dust…

  • “It’s 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark… and we’re wearing sunglasses” Mommy was on vacation in Chicago.  Granted, it was for work.  But it was three days with no cartoons, no one opening the shower curtain and no one interrupting me in the bathroom. It was wonderful.  Even if I did have to sit in training for two days straight and ride in the car a total of 12 hours.  (Six hours one-way.)  We were in Northbrook at the Sheraton.  All I have to say is WOW.  The people…

  • My kids are so old-school.  I just realized this recently. They watch Scooby Doo, Flintstones, Tom and Jerry.  They have even sat and watched I Love Lucy reruns with me.  Seriously. I have three year olds who watch the stuff I watched growing up… and ask to watch it. It doesn’t stop there.  We have a few games from when we were younger–one of them being this basketball game that has these ping-pong balls and metal levers to flip the balls into the basket.  The date on it is 1976.  Yes, I said 1976.  The kids love playing this basketball game… and can…
