Dear Santa…
I originally wrote this post down on my editorial calendar with the intention of making it a humorous piece. What does this twin mom want from Santa? In light of the recent tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, I decided to take this post a different direction. It just seems appropriate.
Dear Santa,
I have been so very good this year. Or, at least I have tried. I have tried to not yell at my kids. I have tried to be the best mommy in the world. I have tried to protect them from the evil in the world. I have tried to teach them right from wrong and how to be polite. I have tried. And, a lot of times I have failed.
Last week, twenty little children lost their lives because of a crazy gunman. They were in a place that should be safe. A safe haven for learning. A safe haven from the outside world. Instead, they were not given a choice to grow up. They were not given a choice to become who they were meant to be. The question is why. I know, Santa, that is a question for God not for you. There are twenty sets of parents who have to spend Christmas without their babies. Twenty families too many.
I was going to ask for a bunch of gifts this year. Fun things like a brand new iPad and a Keurig coffee maker. I don’t want those things anymore, Santa. I want you to bring peace to those twenty families. I want you to hold them close and let them know those children didn’t die in vain. I want you to return my presents to the store and instead dole out peace to the world.
I want safe schools Santa. I want my kids to grow up like I did… not having to worry about bad people or bad situations. I want to be able to take my kids outside to play and not have to worry who is nearby or what might happen to them. I want to be able to drop them off at school and not worry if they will be alive when I come back to pick them up.
I want happy and healthy kids. I want kids worldwide to be safe from harm, whether from strangers or family members. I want kids around the world to be given a chance to excel and succeed in whatever they choose to do.
Santa, for Christmas, I just want the world to be right again.
I want there to be peace throughout the land.
I want all children– including mine– to grow up without fear. To grow up to be what they are supposed to be.
So, Santa, don’t bring me anything this year. All I want is peace.
Hi! I found you on the blog hop and am your newest follower! I was kinda sorta hopin’ that you’d pop on by and follow me back!

Now, if Santa could only drop that down the chimney, this world would be perfect…. 🙂
Thanks for the Christmas wishes and no worries, you are not the only one who has been to busy to do much reading.
Merry Christmas!
You have no idea how much I love this. I’m actually sitting here watching the news as they remember the kids who lost their lives one week ago & I’ve been crying my eyes out since they started putting the kids faces up on the screen. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if NOTHING like that ever happened again?
Definitely.
