Honey-Do List

Did ya’ll think I dropped off the face of the earth?  The flu hit me like a Mack truck on Thursday morning.  I was lying in bed – wishing for death – until yesterday.  I hate being that sick.  I am one of those people who have to be doing something.  I seriously think I read three books while lying there over the past few days.  But, today’s Monday and its Listicles time!  Today’s topic is 10 Things That Need Fixed Around the House.

10 Things That Need Fixed Around the House (a.k.a. The Honey-Do List)

  1. Dining room ceiling needs painted
  2. Trim in hallway needs painted
  3. Sliding glass door handle needs fixed
  4. Tile needs finished in bathroom
  5. Baby gate blocking basement steps is loose
  6. Dining room chairs need fixed and finished
  7. Light bulbs need replaced in almost every room
  8. Kitchen sink is leaking
  9. Seal on car door is torn (okay, that is kinda around the house… it’s parked out front.  That counts, right?)
  10. My kitchen needs remodeled – I was hoping to take a picture of the kitchen so you could understand why this is on the list.  We have lived there five years and I am still not even close to fixing it up.  Ugly tile.  ORANGE counters.  Baskets on the wallpaper border.  Dark cabinets… need I go on?

Of course, if you know Don and I… he is not a Mr. Fix-It.  I usually tackle these projects, guilt rope him into helping, and when I get over my head, I call in the big guns.  My father-in-law.

Hmmmm…. I better go make a call.

  1. Orange countertops? That is so retro, if you wait long enough you might just be on the cutting edge when (if?) they come back in style! The handy with tools thing must skip a generation. We have the same issue in our house. My husband says his favorite tools are a sledgehammer and a crowbar. Patience is not his strong suit. His dad on the other hand is AWESOME! Unfortunately he lives in another state…

  2. It seems a lot of people have light bulbs needing replaced. It’s such a pain. That and refilling empty soap dispensers. Ugh.

I am really sorry to hear you were feeling so horribly over the weekend. I hope you are feeling your old self soon, but mostly that no one else gets it!

  3. Lol. Car totally counts. My husband isn’t exactly Mr Fix-it, either, but he sure can hound the maintenance men at our apt complex. 😀

  4. I’m the fixer in the household too…and often find creative ways to do it. Super-Glue is my friend.
We just got the garbage disposal replaced…apparently that was leaking for a while, and we had no clue.

  5. what I want to know did you lay around all weekend looking for the stuff that needed done LOL and you know you got a very good man to help you out YOUR FATHER IN LAW…..better call him to schedule

  6. These are so ugly, I don’t know if they would EVER come back.

  7. Me too. I also use that E6000 Goop stuff too. Works like a charm on loose tiles.

  8. You know better than that… this is crap that has been needing fixed for awhile now…

  9. Sounds very similiar to our approach to home repair on the phone cal lis made to my Dad! Ha ha. That kitchen…I was going to whine and complain about mine as I’ve been pondering a redo for a while, but orange counters and baskets? Yes. You win. 🙂 Get thee to a Lowe’s, and quick. Ha ha!!

  10. Don Gibson says:

I’m Slowly working on the light bulbs of course by the time I get finished they will probably need replaced again, its a viscous cycle. Why do we go through so many light bulbs anyways? Sure don’t make things like they use too. I don’t really know why but I Hate!!! Painting 1001 things I’d rather do

  11. I’ve been seeing a lot of doorknobs needing repair with these lists this week (including my own!)…that and a lot of painting! It must be nice having a family member who can come help out with those things. My “big guns” is our handyman…and he doesn’t come cheap!

  12. What I usually do is start a project, realize I am in over my head, and then call my father-in-law. LOL! He probably hates seeing my name pop up on caller ID.

  13. I wish I had handy father in law. And a new kitchen. Glad you are feeling better!
