Take the Challenge!

It’s summer!  If you are like most moms, you look in the mirror and aren’t happy with what you see.  Maybe you are a few pounds overweight or hundreds of pounds overweight.  You don’t know what to do to lose it.  It’s not like you have time, right?  I was there recently.  I looked in the mirror and was irked I let myself go.  I kept making excuses for what I was eating and not doing – I kept blaming it on having PCOS.

I had tried every fad diet there was, and some legitimate ones.  Nothing seemed to work.  Then, I talked to my doctor and made a plan.

This summer, the Obesity Action Coalition and created a “Your Weight MattersSM challenge to help you learn about weight loss and provides information about talking to your doctor about your weight!  Once you accept the challenge, you receive a free tool kit:

  • Learn about your weight and the impact on your health
  • Different ways to measure your weight
  • Health and wellness information
  • Benefits of healthy weight-loss
  • Food journals
  • Different weight loss options
  • Sample questions for your doctor
  • And, much more!

The Obesity Action Coalition has launched this national initiative with the goal of getting each and every American to talk to their doctor about their weight and weight loss.

Did you know that being overweight can increase your risk of heart disease and Type 2 diabetes?  But, even losing just a few pounds can lower your risk!

I implore you to lose weight the healthy way.  For years, I tried every gimmick out there.  But, do you know what worked?  Eating whole, natural, unprocessed foods.  I threw away everything in a box or that was processed.  I make healthy meals using fresh ingredients.  (Shameless plug: check out my healthy recipes here.)  I even stopped drinking soda cold-turkey, instead choosing to drink water.  I also started exercising and lifting weights at home.

In 7 weeks, since I started my new life, I have lost 16 pounds and 5 inches.  I have also lowered my total cholesterol – without medicine – from 253 to 188.

I’m not saying it is easy and of course, I fall off the wagon sometime… but, you just dust yourself off and climb back on.

Failure is not an option for myself or my family.

I encourage you to start out by talking to your doctor and accepting the Obesity Action Coalition’s challenge and check out the Your Weight MattersSM campaign!
