Wednesday Hodgepodge Vol. 171

Happy Wednesday!  It’s Wednesday Hodgepodge time!  I also have a Wordless Wednesday picture to share… but, I keep forgetting to get it off my camera.  You know, because taking that itty bitty disk out of the bottom and putting it into the slot on my laptop is a lot of work.  LOL!  So, on to the Wednesday Hodgepodge questions…

1. April 22nd is Earth Day. Are you inspired by nature? In what way?

I am inspired by the beauty and peacefulness of nature.  It makes me calm and reflective and creative.

2. Down to earth, four corners of the earth, move heaven and earth, not have an earthly chance, or salt of the earth…which earthly idiom have you most recently encountered? Explain.

Heck, I don’t know.  I would have to say four corners of the earth.  I feel like I run half way across the world each day going to work and taking the kids to where Nana and I swap.  I am always on the go.

3. Share one piece of advice you might give a newly engaged couple.

To the bride:  Even if you don’t like them, learn some of his mom’s recipes.  To the groom:  Put the toilet seat down.

4. When did you last engage someone to perform a job, task, service, home repair, or improvement? On a scale of 1-10 (ten being the best) how would you rate their work and/or your satisfaction with the job or service provided?

We had to have the washer and dryer repair man come out during the three-week flu fest a few weeks ago.  The dryer stopped working and we obviously needed to wash blankets and sheets.  He fixed it, so I guess I would give it a 10.

5. When did you last find yourself engaged in small talk? Are you awkward or an expert or somewhere in between?

I hate small talk.  Unfortunately, I have to engage in it a lot for work.  I can never think of anything to talk about except “how’s the weather” or something lame like that.

6.  What was the last historic place you visited?

On Sunday, we visited Indian Lake, which is our usual Easter Day outing.  The lake is historic, not only for the multiple Indian tribes in Ohio that used it for fishing, but because it used to be the home of the Sandy Beach Amusement Park.  Back in the day, it was nicknamed “Ohio’s Million Dollar Playground.”  The park opened in 1924 and boasted a 2000 foot wooden roller coaster, ferris wheel, carousel, and penny arcade.  In the 60’s, after several riots during holiday weekends at local bars, the park closed.  Eventually, the rides were relocated to Kings, Ohio and was the start of King’s Island.  In 1982, the rest of the park was demolished and all that is left is a floorless bridge that connected two parts of the park – a sad reminder of days past.  To see some cool pictures back when the park was open, click here.

7. The world would be a better place if we just__________________________.

Were kind to each other.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Hmmmm.  Random thought.  Random thought.  I’ve got nothing today.  Sorry.
