Wednesday Hodgepodge Vol. 418

Happy Wednesday, ya’ll! That means it’s time for Wednesday Hodgepodge! If you want to play along, grab the questions over at Joyce’s blog, answer them on your own and link up. We’d love for you to join us! But, for now, read on to find out my answers for this week’s somewhat random questions!

1. What’s something you ‘may’ do this month?

Well, we are five months into 2021, and I STILL haven’t started sewing (or cutting) the blocks for a “block a month” quilt I am doing with Moda fabric! Ummmm…. kinda defeats the purpose of a block a month quilt. I seriously have these packages of fabric bundles that Bloomerie Fabrics sends me each month in a pile by my sewing machine. So, I “may” start working on that… “may”be this weekend.

2. Last time you literally or figuratively shouted mayday!

Hmmmm. Earlier this week, I was freaking out about how messy my house was. I put out the proverbial mayday call to the kids…. of course, it was more “help me clean this crap up!” The response I got was, “its not that messy.” They pretty much ignored me. Eventually, they did help me clean… but it was a mayday that went unanswered at the time.

3. Let the chips fall where they may, come what maymaybe, Cape Maymayflies, devil may care, you may now kiss the bride,  much to our dismaymayhem, mayonnaise…choose a ‘may’ word or phrase from the list and tell us how it relates to your life in some way right now.

This is super gross… but mayonnaise is related to my life right now. Since I have been working at home for the last year and two months, we have eaten out WAY too much. I have tried to plan lunches but that goes by the wayside because I am usually in meetings or working on something with a deadline. I was trying to make a list of easy meals and thought tuna salad sandwiches would be a great meal one day this week. So, I bought tuna. But no mayo. I had mayo in the fridge, that Nana bought literally a couple of months ago. We have been eating it and it tasted ok. (You know where I am going with this, don’t you.) I decided to make tuna salad, pulled out the jar of mayo, and just happened to look at the expiration date. December 2020. We have been eating expired mayo.

4. If someone were serving you breakfast in bed this weekend, what would you like to see on the menu?

I love love pancakes with REAL maple syrup, sausage links, and milk.

5. Tell me one true thing you believe about motherhood.

It should come with hazard pay.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Well, I survived the first day in the new-to-me office building. I actually like it better than our old office building. And, to be honest… my uniform was a little tight (all those fast food lunches!). There was a big merger at work, so the various branches came together in a big mixing bowl, basically. About 50% of the people I now work with were from other areas of the organization. But, they were all super nice and friendly. The building is nice and one of my desks (don’t ask… I have two) is near some of the people from my old group and the budget I have been assigned is the department of a super cool manager I have worked with before…. so, I made out pretty well.

  1. It has to be real maple syrup

  2. Ha! motherhood should totally come with hazard pay, but in the form of pedicures and massages. LOL.

  3. Glad the transition to the new space went well!!

  4. Glad you made out well in your new office environment. Can I chuckle about the mayo. I’m in charge of the church kitchen these days and you should see the stuff I’ve thrown out with old dates! Hope you have a lovely Mother’s Day weekend.
