Chocolate Crescent Rolls

Chocolate crescent rolls oozing with creamy chocolate and topped with sugar.  How can you go wrong with this delicious treat?  From the start to finish, they take about 20 minutes and are a perfect recipe for getting the little ones involved in the kitchen.

These delicious chocolate crescent rolls started as a homework assignment in French class for my brother. At the last minute, he remembered he needed a treat for the next day’s class. Somewhere, he came up with wanting to take in “French pastries” to share during their potluck. After a quick run to the store, he came home with crescent roll dough, Hershey nugget bars and powdered sugar… and 20 minutes later, Jeff’s French Pastries were a thing. A very yummy thing.

Through the years, I have updated his original “French Pastries” recipe to make them even more amazing…

What is in this amazing recipe?

This recipe is so simple, with just four ingredients, it can be thrown together and in the oven in just a few minutes.

  • Tube of crescent rolls
  • 8 Hershey’s Nugget bars
  • Sugar
  • Egg

How to Make Chocolate Crescent Rolls

Unroll and separate crescent rolls. Place one unwrapped Hershey Nugget on the wide portion of the dough. Roll up the crescent roll with the chocolate inside. Glaze each crescent roll with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar. Bake according to crescent roll package instructions.

  • Powdered Sugar. Omit the egg and sugar. After baking, sprinkle with powdered sugar instead.
  • Chocolate. The sky is the limit! As long as it fits into the crescent roll… think chocolate with caramel, nuts, or even fruit filling!
