Headbands of Hope Giveaway!

Jessica Elkstrom started Headbands of Hope after completing an internship at Make a Wish Foundation of Central and Western North Carolina.  She was pulling her hair back one day and thought about all the children she had met and the thousands of girls suffering from cancer that didn’t have hair to pull back.  Cancer is traumatic enough, but they have to think about losing their lives, as well as losing their feminine identity as their hair falls out.

Jessica launched Headbands of Hope in April, with the mission to fund childhood cancer research and spread hope in girls affected by cancer.

One headband at a time.

For each headband purchased, one headband will be given to a girl suffering from cancer AND $1.00 will be donated to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to help fund life-saving childhood cancer research.

I had the privilege this past month to meet Jessica at Bloggy Con in Cincinnati.  I was amazed at her drive and determination and mission to help these girls.  I wanted to help her get the word out and decided to do a post and giveaway to spread the word.  I encourage you to check out the Headbands of Hope website and order a couple– they would be perfect stocking stuffers!  I bought two for Miss Mo and she loves them (and so do I!)

Since we launched in April, I’ve had the opportunity to distribute headbands to girls in the hospitals across the nation. The best part of my job is opening the door to their room and seeing their faces light up when I bring dozens of colorful headbands to their beds to choose from.  Even though it’s fun and fulfilling to bring the girls headbands in the hospitals, I’m constantly reminded that there still isn’t a cure.   ~Jessica Elkstrom
