International Day of the Girl
Today is the first ever International Day of the Girl! It’s a day where you can make a statement that girls every where matter and that we all need to stand up for the rights of girls worldwide.
According to the United Nations, the International Day of the Girl will “help galvanize worldwide enthusiasm for goals to better girls’ lives, providing an opportunity for the to show leadership and reach their full potential!”
I think we are all in support of that… Happy International Day of the Girl!
International Day of the Girl is the brainchild of Girl Up, an initiative by the United Nations to provide a “for girls, by girls” campaign that brings together American girls to raise awareness for UN programs that help girls go to school, get medical attention, be safe from violence and to have clean drinking water.
Girls around the world have dreams and goals. They want to go to school, be safe, stay healthy, hang out with friends, and have a chance to grow up and to fulfill their dreams.
Please consider joining the Girl Up campaign to ensure girls, no matter where they live, can make a better future for themselves, their families, communities, and the world.
Alone we are strong, but together we are stronger.
I encourage you to visit Girlup.org for more information and to join the campaign!
