Organization and Pickles – Hodgepodge Style

Happy Wednesday!  It’s Wednesday Hodgepodge time!  (Admit it, you wait all week for this post.)  The questions this week are some interesting ones.  But, then again, they always are.  So, grab the questions, answer them on your own blog and link up with us over at Joyce’s blog for some Wednesday Hodgepodge fun!

1. Labor Day weekend (in the US of A) is approaching…what’s something you’ve labored over this year?

The last class I just finished up for my Master’s.  Holy crap.  It wasn’t so much that it was difficult… just the assignments were time-consuming.  I was never so glad to get a trimester over in my life.  Well, except maybe my first trimester when I was pregnant.

2. What is one word to describe your ‘job’ or career?

Interesting.

3. What was your worst or least favorite job ever? Why?

I haven’t had a particular job that was the worst– well, except maybe the last one.  But, I am better than that and won’t lower myself to bad mouthing them.  That being said, when I worked at the car dealership– the worst part of that job was filing hard copies.  You know when you go get your car serviced, when you drop it off they give you the paper with what they are doing and the estimate?  Well, the second page of that is a card stock-type copy for the technician to write their notes on.  The filing cabinets were in the hallway and in a closet at one point– neither of which were air-conditioned.  Every time someone walked by, you would have to stand up and push the filing cabinet drawer in so they could get past.  It sucked royally.  The folders would be so jammed packed (think of a 10-year-old car with the customer bringing it in for regular service– each service would have a hard copy) it would tear the crap out of my cuticles and gave me atrocious paper cuts.  Yeah, I miss working at the car dealership, but I don’t miss that part of the job at all.

4. How do you measure contentment?

Pure joy.  The feeling that you could die at that very moment and not have any regrets.

5. Pickles-like or dislike? What is something you eat that requires a pickle? Dill, bread and butter, sweet gherkins…what’s your favorite kind of pickle?

LOVE pickles.  I usually have to have pickles on my burgers.  I like dill and bread and butter.  My favorite would have to be a jar of garlic bread and butter pickles from Hershberger’s in Millersburg, Ohio.  Oh my.  Definitely going to see about getting a few jars when we go back.

6. In your current house-town-state, what is it you like living close to?

The country.  I can hear the cows mooing at the nearby farm.  The tractors drive down the road in front of our house.  I can see the wheat dust and corn husks when they are combining the fields.  Love it.

7. What is one thing on your ‘want-to-do’ list before summer draws to an official close?

I wanted to get organized.  Don’t think it’s happening this summer.  Again.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

The twins started pre-Kindergarten on Monday. It was so very, very sad.  I swear I just brought them home from the hospital and they barely fit in their infant car seats.  Now, they are in a room full of kids that are a head shorter than they are.  It’s so depressing.  They look so old.  High school graduation is just around the corner.
