Video Killed the Radio Star

This week’s Monday Listicles is 10 Songs from Your Senior Year.  I had to get the Hubs in on this one– the songs from my senior year SUCKED.  Next week’s list is inspired by  Alisa who has a lovely blog called Southern girl eats clean.  She thought we should make a list of 10 FOODS THAT MAKE YOU THINK OF…

I’d love to make this a list of the songs we danced to at prom, but we went racing instead.  So, even though Video Killed the Radio Star is the title of this one, that song wasn’t in the Top 100 when either the Hubs or I were in our senior year.  I’ll even save you the math, because I am sure you are dying to know.  I’m 35 and he is 37.

1996

  1. Litty Bitty by Alan Jackson (funny story below)
  2. Heads Carolina, Tails California by Jo Dee Messina
  3. Time Marches On by Tracy Lawrence
  4. No News by Lonestar
  5. Daddy’s Money by Ricochet

1994

  1. Buddy Holly by Weezer  (if you don’t watch any of the other videos– watch this one.  Its awesome!)
  2. Self-Esteem by Offspring
  3. Third Rate Romance by Sammy Kershaw
  4. John Deere Green by Joe Diffie
  5. You Wreck Me by Tom Petty

Funny Alan Jackson Story:

One of our first dates, the Hubs took me to see Alan Jackson.  It was the first concert I had ever been to.  It was amazing.  This girl sat beside us and never moved, clapped– nothing– for the entire show until Alan played Litty Bitty… and she jumped up and started screaming and dancing around and cheering.  When the song was over, she sat down and didn’t move for the rest of the show.  LOL.

  1. That’s funny! I wonder if that’s the only song she knew. Weezer, how did I forget about them? Great list!

  2. Oh wow…I do not know not a single song from your list. I also graduated in 1996, and I would have to literally look up what the popular songs were to jog my memory. I remember listening to Another Bad Creation (ABC) songs, but don’t know if that was high school or middle school.

    Happy Listicles Monday!

  3. that lady sure sounds like a wackadoo….going for just one song…LOLOLOLOL

I had my hubby do the whole list…I prefer to be listening to audio books than music.

  4. I love a good concert story!

I graduated in 1992, so many of these are familiar.

You Wreck Me = AWESOME song. But then I’m a huge TP fan.

  5. Hahah! At least she enjoyed one song. Would have been a shame if there were none she liked!

That was an awesome concert AJ one of my favorite singers, she sure did get down to little bitty. Senior year, I was thinking as I was coming up with these that it has been 20 years already wow (I’m 38 by the way but thank you for making me younger) I think we had more fun at the race track than any prom, I wouldn’t change it.
