Wednesday Hodgepodge Vol. 429

Yikes! I haven’t posted since June! Since it is Wednesday, I thought I would jump back in with the latest Wednesday Hodgepodge hosted by Joyce over at From This Side of the Pond! Grab the questions over there, answer them on your own blog and link up! Then, show some love to your neighbor! Ready? Let’s go!

1. What’s something you would say ‘runs in your family’?

I would have to say brown hair… it seems like everyone, on both sides of my family, have some sort of brown hair color. Of course, some of us dye (me, I dye mine) a different color, but we all were born with brown.

2. A book, song, tv show, or movie you love that is centered around family.

Right now, I am heavily invested into the TV show Heartland. It is all my boyfriend’s fault for suggesting I find a new series to watch while waiting for season 4 of Virgin River. All. His. Fault. I didn’t realize it had so many seasons when I started… but, now I am hooked and binge the show every chance I get!

3. Family matters, family ties, family tree, family man, family fortune, black sheep of the family, family values, one big happy family…choose a ‘family phrase’ that applies to your life currently and explain.

Family tree is the phrase for me. I have been working on my family tree for several years. It started after my dad died, and I wanted to learn more about whether a family rumor was true. (So far, I haven’t proven or disproven it.) I am at a brick wall with one of the people on dad’s side. She was born in Harbaugh’s Valley in Maryland in 1818. (Literally, a valley between two mountains that they had to carry or pack their possessions into it. She married my four-times great grandpa and they moved to Ohio where they operated a mill. My great-great-great-great grandpa died and she remarried. I have a picture, I know where the mill was located, a thorough history of Harbaugh’s Valley, even her obituary! She was a reformed I cannot find her parent’s names to save my life! (Sorry you asked, aren’t you?)

4. Last thing you fixed for a big family dinner? If you’re not the cook, last thing you were served at a big family dinner?

We normally do not have “big” family dinners during the week. I would have to say the last big dinner I cooked was chicken, corn on the cob, and mashed potatoes.

5. What are three words you would use to describe your family.

Crazy. Fun. Loud.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I was told a week ago that I get to continue working from home indefinitely. I am super excited about this! I have even been given money to “outfit” my home office. This week, I bought a brand new desk and printer.

  1. You are the second person to mention Heartland today so I’m going to have to check that one out. We are watching the most recent season of Virgin River now but I don’t like the story line as much as the previous seasons. Have fun with your office re-do!

  2. I find it interesting when people can research their family trees. We watched Heartland for a while but then had to leave it behind. That sounds like a good classic meal. Corn on the cob is fresh and good right now! Happy Hodgepodge to you.
